If we had to play favorites, she just might be it. Susie has produced 10 calves. 5 heifers and the only heifer ever to enter a show ring was the 2007 PDCA National Champion Heifer. Her 5 bull calves are successful herd bulls. One being Mrald Overture of Belle Fourche Farm another Hillview Red Wing,
also a champion producer. Her 2010 bull calf is something to watch for. He is by Taco and is homozygous polled and dun, her first dun calf. As of Janaury 2012 Susie has 348 registered
descendants nation wide. She is a true producer.
Another one of our favorites, Iodine. A large quantity producing trained milk cow, she can be milked once a day and produce 3 gallons. She had her first calf for us by Frederick, in September 2009. This heifer calf has been one of our best, without a doubt. In 2010 she had a bull calf, also by Frederick that went on to be a herd bull in Idaho. Iodine has proven to be all we could hope for plus.

Lily is a show cow of yesteryear. She showed as a weanling, yearling and 3 years cow/calf before an early retirement. Lily produces beautiful calves, she is an easy keeper and a
very hardy animal. Although her
show days are over, we are excited
to get her babies into the ring.

Sheridan is a lovely cow.
She is a grand-daughter of our
amazing producer, Susie.
Sheridan is said to have one of the nicest
udder attachments seen on a Dexter
(by a very knowledgeable Dexter breeder)
A consistent producer when milking, a champion in the show ring and her three calves (male and female) also champions in the ring. Sheridan always brings a smile to our face with her playful attitude. An incredible part of our string of broodcows for years to come. Watch for Sheridan in the show ring as she continues to rival the best as a tough competitor with her calves.

Princess is a fun cow to milk, easy to handle, will go into the show ring and is a pleasure to have around. Her only two calves (male and female) were both Champions in the show ring. What more can you ask for in a family cow. We have many years ahead of us with this young cow and are looking forward to them all.

Grace is a bred milker. Her mother and full sister are milkers on a small farm. Her half sister is a family milk cow and Champion in the show ring. Although Grace never made it in to the show ring herself, her first bull calf to enter a show ring took Reserve Grand Champion bull. She far out produces herself in her calves.
We are excited to have Grace on our brood string.

Dora was our first Dexter calf born at Emerald Park Farm. She is an ideal Dexter. She is 43 inches tall, milks, is a show ring National Champion, does draft work and produces an exceptional calf.
She is a shining example of what we breed for here.

Cassy is our 1/2 Hereford 1/2 Dexter beef experiment. Her mom was one of my favorites that we unfortunately lost. I milked her mom and kept her stats of production, protein and butterfat content. It will be exciting to see the difference of her production compared to mom.
Cassy is a nice thick heifer and a great mother not only caring for her own calf, but every calf in the herd is allowed to nurse!
She is a great broodcow to have in our herd.

Replacement heifers are a hard position to hold on to here in our herd. The biggest question is, do we need or want to replace that cow and keep that line in our herd? Then we look at pedigrees. They have to be a cross we don't have. We look to see if it is a line that improves upon itself in each generation. Their dam and sire must out produce themselves with each calf. Their dam or sire must classify over a score of 90 and both must pass a disposition analysis. Then we will begin to evaluate the calf's conformation and disposition, growth rate and overall ease to live with. It's not until they are over a year old and are ready to breed that we decide that they will stay to replace their dams. This goes for both male and female. Females are just as good for beef and we have eliminated some from the gene pool in just such a way. Here are the few replacement heifers that have made their way into the herd out of our oldest ladies.
Perfect was a huge blessing out of Sally as her 11th calf. We would have likely kept any heifer out of Sally at this time in her calving career. Not only did we get a heifer but she is polled and as a bit of icing Sally threw on some color. This little girl has Saturn, Lucifer, Outlaw and Platinum. All of that English foundation wrapped into one tidy package.
She is a true cross of her mother and father as we know them both well and see them in her in personality and conformation.
Perfect is on our show string and is holding her own as she consistently places at the top.

Butter was introduced to our herd in
February 2011. She made the long
trip from Georgia with her calf (affectionately named Georgia) at three months of age. Although never trained or handled, Butter proves to be a level headed, sweet cow. She is a heck of a producer with her first calf in the show ring taking Reserve Grand Champion Female out of 27 head of Dexter's. Butter is a big girl standing 47 inches tall. She has beautiful udder attachment, fantastic feet, straight legs and is well muscled. We are excited to breed her to our own bulls for some superior offspring!

Wow, did Susie do it up right......again!
This is a full sister to Pandora (pictured above). The first red female Susie has ever produced. This is her 10th calf. We were not planning on keeping a heifer from Susie at this time as she is still going strong, but ready or not this is not one we're giving up!

Way to go Daren Jane!
As a rescue and not knowing how many calves she had left in her, we were hoping for a replacement and a replacement we got.
In addition to an incredible pedigree and homozygous A2, Frederick knocked the horns off.
This is a really neat heifer to have and we expect grand things out of her.

Is she just to beautiful to pass up?
Grace out does herself when she calves and this is proof of it.
This heifer is a tank but carries the femininity a heifer should. Everything about her is so impressive.
Liberty is a perfect example of a dual purpose Dexter with a strong milk line and amazing thickness throughout.
She will be fun to watch mature.

So we got our replacement out of old lady Lily. On her 12th calf we were hoping to get a heifer soon. What a season for heifers! Jewel is a polled, homozygous A2 heifer calf. We couldn't have asked for more out of Lily. This is a powerful heifer.

We trucked Georgia her to Washington when she was only 3 months old. She has that great old Circle H breeding, our favorite cow Susie and a twist of good old American Dexter breeding on the bottom side.
We turned her in to a show ring Champion and will add her to our brood string for (we expect) some pretty cool calves.
